Red Monk Studio

Red Monk Studio is an Italian animation and creative production company based in Milan. Founded in 2017, it develops original intellectual property in animation and live action while providing production services to Italian and international clients. Its work spans children's television, feature films, advertising and branded content, using 2D, 3D/CGI, hand-drawn, cutout and hybrid animation techniques.

The studio combines original development with commissioned production. Its capabilities cover concept art, visual development, character and environment design, storyboarding, animation, compositing and final rendering. For CGI projects, its production work includes character modeling, surfacing, rigging and lighting. It also supports production consultancy, brand adaptation and IP packaging, helping projects progress from an initial concept into production.

Television and international production

Red Monk's television work includes co-producing Underdog with Superprod Animation for Gulli/M6 and RAI, and Piripenguins with Eaglet Films and Wild Child Animation for BBC and RAI. It has contributed CG animation to Lego Friends: The Next Chapter with Superprod for Passion Pictures Paris, provided 2D animation for Harrison and Me, and delivered animation for the second season of Netflix's Spirit Rangers. Its production activity also extends into live action through the international series Home Sweet Rome!.

In 2026, Red Monk partnered with Frog Box and Superrights to begin production on a CGI series adaptation of The Saddle Club for France Télévisions, RAI and ZDF. Alongside commissioned series, the studio maintains a development portfolio that includes original concepts and international co-productions, reflecting its combined role as a production partner and an originator of new properties.

Superprod Group acquired a majority interest in the studio at the end of 2020, with the transaction announced in February 2021. Red Monk continues to operate within the group's European production network, combining its Italian production base with cross-border animation partnerships. Its range of work encompasses preschool programming, children's comedy and action, family entertainment and commercial animation.
