Quarrybuild

Overview

Quarrybuild is a specialized contributor platform and talent network dedicated to generating high-fidelity technical datasets for artificial intelligence research. Operated by the AI startup Nitrode (Inception Technologies), the platform bridges the gap between expert creative professionals and the requirements of frontier AI models. By commissioning experienced 3D artists, technical artists, and game engine programmers, Quarrybuild creates the ground-truth spatial reasoning data, workflow traces, and reinforcement learning environments necessary to train multimodal agents in complex digital environments.

Core Operations

Quarrybuild functions as a managed pipeline for sourcing and validating expert-level contributions. The platform focuses on the intersection of creative software and machine learning, specifically targeting tools such as Blender, Unreal Engine, and Unity. Contributors are engaged to produce:

• Original 3D Assets & Scenes: Fully editable, production-ready environments and models built to rigorous technical specifications.
• Workflow Trajectories: Structured recordings of expert interactions within DCC tools and game engines, providing essential data for training AI agents in computer-use and tool-calling.
• RL Environments: Interactive, executable simulation spaces designed for testing and training autonomous agents in multi-step reasoning and state management.

Organizational Context

Launched in September 2026, Quarrybuild serves as the public-facing contractor portal for Nitrode, a Y Combinator-backed research lab (W25 cohort). While Nitrode focuses on the development of AI-assisted game prototyping engines and evaluation benchmarks like GameEngineBench, Quarrybuild provides the human-in-the-loop infrastructure required to scale these research efforts. The platform operates on a fully remote, distributed model, managing a network of hundreds of specialized freelance contributors worldwide under the corporate umbrella of Inception Technologies.
