About Psyop

Psyop is a global creative, animation and mixed-media production studio founded in New York City in 2000. Its work spans commercial storytelling, character-led design, live-action integration, visual effects and entertainment production, combining artists, directors, technologists and production teams across international facilities.

The studio develops work across 2D and 3D animation, visual development, character design, motion design, art direction, live-action direction, compositing, CGI integration, finishing and colour grading. Psyop also works in interactive entertainment through Psyop Games, producing game trailers, in-game cinematics, narrative development and immersive AR/VR experiences.

Creative work

Psyop’s portfolio includes landmark commercial campaigns such as Coca-Cola’s Happiness Factory and Man and Dog, as well as work for brands including Nike, Jordan, Xbox, Apple and Travel Oregon. Its entertainment and game-related credits include Riot Games’ GODS ft. NewJeans, Supercell’s Lost & Crowned, Adult Swim’s Common Side Effects, Ubisoft’s Anno 117: Pax Romana, and the Psyop Games titles I Love You, Colonel Sanders! A Finger Lickin’ Good Dating Simulator and Hooked on You: A Dead by Daylight Dating Sim.

The company also contributes to longer-form animation. Psyop Stuttgart is co-producing Werner Herzog’s upcoming animated feature The Twilight World with Sun Creature Studio.

Global production model

Psyop operates production hubs in North America, Europe and Latin America. In 2021–2022, it transitioned more than 250 artists to a cloud-based global pipeline, enabling teams to collaborate across time zones and disciplines. Its capabilities include real-time engine production, branded entertainment, creative strategy and custom AI production pipelines.

In 2026, Psyop formalized the Psyop Independent Media Group, an alliance connecting Psyop’s flagship studios with independent specialist studios internationally. The network is positioned as an agile alternative to conventional agency holding-company structures while retaining the distinct operations of its partner studios.

Origins and leadership

Psyop was founded by Marco Spier, Marie Hyon, Todd Mueller, Kylie Matulick and Eben Mears, five former MTV creative talents. The studio began in a Lower East Side bar with a single Discreet Flame suite.

In 2026, the Psyop Independent Media Group was led by CEO Matt Hunnicutt, Co-Lead Marie Hyon, Chief Strategy Officer Sandra Nam and EVP of Studio Dotti Sinnott.

Recognition

  • GODS ft. NewJeans, Psyop’s official music video for the 2023 League of Legends World Championship, won Silver at CICLOPE 2024.
