About Proof

Proof is a Los Angeles-headquartered visualization studio founded by Ron Frankel in 2002. The independent company focuses on previsualization, technical visualization, postvisualization, virtual production, concept development, and visual effects support for film, television, immersive entertainment, advertising, games, and experiential installations.

Its work is designed to help filmmakers make creative and practical decisions before and during production. Through previs, the team explores shot choreography, staging, pacing, sequence design, and 3D camera work. Techvis translates those virtual scenes into production information such as camera heights, focal lengths, vehicle paths, crane trajectories, rigging considerations, and stage constraints. Postvis combines rough animation, environments, creatures, and effects with live-action plates to support editorial workflows and guide downstream VFX production.

Visualization across production

Proof provides visualization support from early development through post-production, including:

  • Pitchvis and concept development for early visual prototyping and greenlight materials.
  • Previs and stuntvis for cinematic action, sequence planning, and practical stunt preparation.
  • Techvis for camera, lens, and physical-production planning.
  • Postvis and compositing using Nuke for editorial assemblies, cleanup, and shot finishing.
  • Virtual production using Unreal Engine for real-time scene exploration, virtual-camera scouting, LED-volume design, and live on-set tracking.

The studio's credits span major feature and episodic productions including Stranger Things, TRON: Ares, The Wheel of Time, Damsel, The Acolyte, Fast X, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, Avatar: The Way of Water, Avengers: Endgame, The Lion King, and 1917. Its immersive-entertainment work includes visualization for Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge.

Proof supports productions internationally through its Los Angeles headquarters, its UK studio at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden Park, and its Brisbane studio. The company combines creative visualization with technical production planning to help directors, production teams, and VFX partners test ambitious work before final photography and finishing.

More about Proof

Leadership and operating approach

  • Ron Frankel founded Proof and serves as Founder & CEO. Ellyn Lewis is Global CFO & COO; Patrice Avery leads global production; Benjamin Riehl leads global business development; and Katrina Peers is Executive Producer for the Brisbane studio.
  • Proof was founded around the premise that independent previs can give filmmakers impartial control of visual-effects planning without the bias of a final-VFX vendor.

Production technology and security

Proof uses Epic Games' Unreal Engine for real-time virtual location scouting, virtual-camera work, and LED-volume environments. It is Gold Shield certified by the Motion Picture Association's Trusted Partner Network, indicating physical and digital data-security standards across its facilities.
