About Pixel Zoo
Pixel Zoo is an Australian full-service animation, CGI and visual-effects studio creating 2D and 3D character animation, digital-first series, feature work, commercials and original entertainment IP. Based in Queensland, the studio works across the production lifecycle, from concept development, writing, character design and storyboarding through modelling, rigging, animation, lighting, rendering, compositing, sound and final delivery.
Its production capabilities include real-time lighting and rendering with Unreal Engine, GPU-accelerated render-farm infrastructure, visual-effects integration and a managed production workflow. Pixel Zoo also develops and packages original IP, including book and graphic-novel adaptations, and supports international co-productions.
Screen and franchise work
The studio is known for children’s and family entertainment, as well as toy-to-entertainment and digital-first content. Its credited work includes Rainbow High, L.O.L. Surprise! The Movie, L.O.L. Surprise! House of Surprises, Heroes of Goo Jit Zu, Baby Alive, Alwayz BRATZ, The Secret Explorers, Go Buster, Lellobee City Farm, Shopkins, Magic Mixies and Lego Duplo.
Pixel Zoo was founded in 2013 by Paul Gillett and Elisha Gillett. Originally incorporated as Flux Animation Studio Pty Ltd, it adopted the Pixel Zoo name in 2017. In November 2022, MGA Entertainment acquired the company for its MGA Studios content operation; Pixel Zoo continues to operate under its own brand and leadership while producing work for third-party clients and MGA franchise properties.
Original-content expansion
In 2025, Pixel Zoo launched Pixel Labs, its original-content division. Pixel Labs focuses on proprietary projects, adaptations and international co-productions, expanding the studio’s role beyond service production. Its announced slate includes projects such as Neverlanders, Fixie Pixies, You Wish, Kitty Witch, Alien Inn, Stuffed and The Secrets of Sunflower Valley.
The studio’s work combines high-volume animated production with technical pipeline development and franchise-focused storytelling for television, streaming, web and consumer-product entertainment markets.
