About Pitch Black

Pitch Black is an international visual effects and visualization collective that brings together specialist digital-production studios under a shared corporate platform. The group supports feature-film, episodic, streaming, commercial and immersive productions through a combination of VFX, visualization, creative technology and global production infrastructure.

Its network includes distinct creative brands with their own cultures and client relationships, while Pitch Black provides unified executive leadership, research and software-pipeline resources. The group’s capabilities span photorealistic visual effects, compositing, CGI, creature animation, complex digital environments, matte painting, art direction and production finishing.

Visualization and production support

Through its visualization practice, the group supports filmmakers from early concept development through post-production with concept art, previz, playviz, techviz for virtual production and postviz. Its global operating model is designed to connect multi-site teams while retaining access to local production and tax-incentive advantages in its markets.

Technology

In 2026, Pitch Black deployed REVIZE, a proprietary AI and machine-learning toolset developed at Rising Sun Pictures, across its network. REVIZE is intended for production-scale face replacement, de-aging, performance enhancement, body replacement and cosmetic adjustment workflows. The technology has been used on productions including Sinners, Mickey 17 and Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga.

Company history

The organization developed from the corporate platform built around FuseFX and expanded through the acquisitions of FOLKS, Rising Sun Pictures and El Ranchito between 2020 and 2022. Formerly known as The Fuse Group, the parent organization was rebranded as The Pitch Black Company in January 2023. In 2025, the FuseFX brand was retired and its former studios were rebranded under FOLKS as FOLKS USA; Pitch Black subsequently launched the Square One visualization studio.

Pitch Black reports a network of more than 1,400 artists across 14 studio locations in seven countries. Its approach combines locally rooted creative teams with shared research, technology and global production workflows.
