Outpost VFX

Outpost VFX is an international visual-effects and post-production studio founded in 2013 and headquartered in Bournemouth, England. The company creates high-end work for feature films and premium episodic television, combining creative collaboration with technical production across its studios in the UK, Canada and India.

Its work spans photoreal CG environments, digital matte painting, set extensions, creature effects, character animation, digi-doubles, invisible effects, clean-up, digital makeup, compositing, tracking and dynamic simulation. The studio also provides on-set VFX supervision, technical direction, asset build, look development, lighting, environment generation, rigging, grooming, animation, colour finishing, data management and ShotGrid-based production tracking.

Connected production

A cloud-native production model underpins collaboration across the business. Outpost migrated to a unified “studio in the cloud” infrastructure using AWS and AWS Thinkbox Deadline, connecting artists, supervisors and technologists across its global workforce. This supports distributed production, cross-studio collaboration and scalable rendering for episodic and theatrical work.

The studio’s creative culture was founded around respect, balance and creative integrity. Its approach combines artist-centred working practices with technical VFX expertise, including photoreal creature design, environment work and complex effects simulation.

Outpost VFX has contributed to film and television productions including Foundation, Silo, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, House of the Dragon, Avatar: The Last Airbender, The Wheel of Time, Bob Marley: One Love, Captain America: Brave New World, Thor: Love and Thunder, A Quiet Place, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Black Mirror and Watchmen.

Its work has received industry recognition through Emmy and Visual Effects Society nominations, Royal Television Society Craft & Design Awards recognition for Silo, and Academy Award visual-effects shortlist recognition. The company works with film studios, broadcasters and streaming platforms on effects-heavy productions ranging from invisible visual effects to large-scale CG environments, characters and simulations.
