About Od Studios
Od Studios is a Vancouver-based boutique visual effects and animation studio founded in 2019 by VFX supervisor Marc Horsfield and executive producer Jason Brewer. The company combines a compact production model with technical workflows designed for feature-film, episodic, commercial and music-video work.
Its work spans visual-effects production and supervision, character and creature animation, procedural rigging and simulation, compositing, finishing, and storytelling and IP development. The studio’s technical practice includes procedural effects and animation workflows in Houdini, KineFX and APEX; Nuke compositing; Maya-based character work; photoreal asset and environment generation; lighting; look development; and colour management.
Production approach
Od Studios describes its work through a blend of technical precision, creative experimentation and story-led problem solving. Its pipeline is built to support scalable, high-throughput production while retaining the flexibility of a boutique team. The studio also encourages artists to develop and pitch internal story ideas alongside client assignments.

Leadership and origins
- Marc Horsfield founded Od Studios and serves as Founder and VFX Supervisor. Before the studio, he was Head of Production Technology at Method Studios and held roles at Digital Domain, Sony Pictures Imageworks and Rhythm & Hues.
- Jason Brewer is Co-Founder and Executive Producer, with production and leadership experience across animated features and live-action visual effects.
- Horsfield is also a co-creator and administrator of the Houdini user community odforce, which inspired the studio’s name.
Pipeline infrastructure
Od Studios uses Seagate Exos RAID storage arrays running the Lustre file system as part of its scalable production infrastructure. The company describes this architecture as supporting petabyte-scale throughput for 4K film pipelines without the overhead of a large facility.
