About No Brakes Games
No Brakes Games is an independent video game developer founded in 2012 in Vilnius, Lithuania, by Tomas Sakalauskas. Its work focuses on physics-driven comedy, open-ended puzzles and emergent gameplay across PC, consoles, mobile and virtual reality. The studio builds games around physical interactions that allow players to experiment, improvise and discover unexpected solutions.
Its breakthrough release, Human: Fall Flat, launched in July 2016 in partnership with Curve Digital, now Curve Games. The puzzle platformer combines deliberately clumsy ragdoll movement with reactive environments and challenges that support different approaches. Its physical systems make mishaps and unscripted comedy central to the experience. The game expanded across desktop, console and mobile platforms and surpassed 50 million sales by 2024.
Physics across platforms
The studio’s capabilities include physics programming, gameplay and creative concept design, 3D modeling, environment art, technical art, quality assurance and cross-platform production. Its specialties span cooperative multiplayer systems, motion controls and hand tracking, alongside the emergent mechanics that underpin its puzzle games.
In September 2026, No Brakes Games released Tiny Flock, a self-published VR herding puzzle game for Meta Quest and SteamVR. Built specifically for virtual reality, it uses tactile interactions and cozy, diorama-style environments. The studio also participated in the VR adaptation of its flagship game, with external developer SneakyBox contracted to build and release Human Fall Flat VR.
No Brakes Games continues developing the next evolution of its flagship physics franchise, with work on the underlying simulation intended to preserve and deepen the original game’s emergent comedy. Its development operations are concentrated in Vilnius following the closure of a former Tenerife branch. The company remains independently and privately held, combining development of its own projects with publishing and production partnerships for particular releases and platforms.
More about No Brakes Games
Leadership and origins
Tomas Sakalauskas serves as CEO and creative lead. Before building the studio’s games, he worked in corporate IT and later experimented with emergent physics prototypes on Itch.io.
Development approach
In a July 2026 interview, Sakalauskas described rapid iteration as important to the studio’s technology-led projects. He attributed difficulties in the former Tenerife operation to rigid processes and explained that consolidating development in Lithuania gave the company a stronger technical team for its physics work.
Publishing relationships
Curve Games handles publishing for the PC and console editions of Human: Fall Flat, while 505 Games manages its mobile versions. These are external commercial partnerships rather than ownership relationships.
