Netflix Animation Studios

Netflix Animation Studios is Netflix’s in-house animation production studio, developing and producing animated feature films and episodic series for the company’s global streaming service. Legally Netflix Animation, LLC, the studio was launched in March 2018 as Netflix Animation and adopted its current operating brand following the January 2024 consolidation of Animal Logic’s animation operations.

The studio works across the full animation-production process, from creative development and visual storytelling through CG shot production, editorial and post-production. Its capabilities span storyboarding, visual development, character design, modelling, rigging, surfacing, animation, visual effects, character effects, lighting, compositing, and production-pipeline technology.

Feature and series production

Its slate includes animated features such as Klaus, The Sea Beast, Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio, Nimona, Leo, Orion and the Dark, Ultraman: Rising, Spellbound, That Christmas, In Your Dreams, and The Twits. Series credits include Love, Death & Robots, The Cuphead Show!, Maya and the Three, Blue Eye Samurai, Arcane, Kid Cosmic, City of Ghosts, Sonic Prime, and Spirit Rangers.

Netflix Animation Studios creates both feature-length and episodic work for Netflix, combining front-end creative development with technical and artistic departments across an integrated global production pipeline. Its animation work encompasses 2D and CGI production, with specialist teams supporting simulation, crowds, character effects, editorial engineering, and digital software development.

Global production capability

The studio’s Burbank flagship serves as its primary headquarters and feature-animation hub, supporting executive leadership, story and visual development, artistic direction, editorial, and post-production. Its California series-production operation includes Netflix Series Animation, which supports episodic projects with dedicated editorial, screening, forum, engineering, and production-technology facilities.

Following Netflix’s acquisition of Animal Logic in 2022, the former studio’s production operations and personnel were integrated into Netflix Animation Studios in 2024. The resulting organization combines established animation and visual-effects experience with a unified production model serving Netflix’s animated-film and series slate.
