About Motive
Motive is Electronic Arts’ Montreal-based AAA game-development studio. Founded in 2015, it creates action-adventure and narrative-driven games while contributing to larger EA franchises. The studio works across full-cycle game development, from game systems and economy design to technical art, character and environment art, animation, narrative world-building, and live-service architecture.
Its work includes the single-player story campaign for Star Wars Battlefront II, the space-combat simulator Star Wars: Squadrons, and the 2023 remake of Dead Space. For Dead Space, Motive rebuilt the survival-horror classic for current-generation platforms using Frostbite, with an emphasis on atmospheric navigation, audio engineering, and expanded storytelling.
Current development
Motive is leading development of Marvel’s Iron Man, an original third-person, single-player action-adventure game created in partnership with Marvel Games. The project is being developed in Unreal Engine and centres on Tony Stark.
The studio also has a dedicated team supporting the future Battlefield franchise. Its contribution spans narrative gameplay, competitive and social systems, meta-systems, and Frostbite-engine expertise as part of a multi-studio development effort.
