About Moonraker VFX
Moonraker VFX is a Bristol-based British visual-effects studio creating photorealistic CGI, animation and integrated effects for specialist factual television, natural-history programming, documentary series and immersive entertainment. Founded operationally in 2013, the business became independent from its earlier Coffee & TV affiliation and formally adopted the Moonraker VFX name in 2017.
The studio is particularly focused on natural history and science storytelling, combining creature and animal effects, digital environments, matte painting, simulation, compositing and character animation. Its work spans premium broadcast and streaming productions, with credits including Planet Earth II, Planet Earth III, Frozen Planet II, The Green Planet, A Perfect Planet, Prehistoric Planet, One Strange Rock, Chimp Empire and Our Oceans.
Screen and immersive production
Alongside television VFX, Moonraker develops content for large-format and location-based experiences. Its capabilities include:
- Concept art, visual research and look development
- CGI, modelling, character animation and seamless plate integration
- Particle, fluid and destruction effects
- VFX production and supervision
- Motion graphics and cut-scene design
- Fulldome, giant-screen and IMAX 3D production
- Content for shared-reality domes, flying theatres and 4DX attractions
Moonraker’s immersive and attraction work includes Moonbase: The Next Step, Inside Pop Art, The Bodmin Jail Experience, Odyssey Malta Flying Ride and WetterExtreme at Klimahaus Bremerhaven. The studio also operates Moonraker Originals, its original-IP development, production and film-licensing division.
Its markets include television and streaming, giant-screen cinema, planetariums, museums, cultural-heritage attractions, visitor centres and theme-park experiences. The company remains an active independent studio, with a Bristol production base supporting its creative, technical and production work.
