About MobilityWare
MobilityWare is an American mobile-game developer and publisher focused on free-to-play casual card, board and puzzle games for mobile and connected platforms. Founded in 1990 as Upstanding, the business began in communications and client-server software before forming the MobilityWare brand in 2003 to build applications for Palm OS, Windows Mobile and Symbian.
The company became an early participant in the iOS App Store launch in 2008, releasing 13 titles on Day One, including Solitaire. It subsequently shifted its full focus to casual mobile gaming, expanded to Android in 2011, and has also developed for Apple Watch, Apple TV and Apple Arcade. Its titles have surpassed 600 million downloads worldwide.
Games and capabilities
MobilityWare develops and operates a portfolio of accessible digital card and puzzle experiences. Its catalogue includes Solitaire, Spider Solitaire, FreeCell Solitaire, MONOPOLY Solitaire, Blackjack by MobilityWare, Spades: Card Game, Hearts: Card Game, Mahjong, Jigsaw Puzzle by MobilityWare, Bubble Shooter Pop!, Gin Rummy Classic, Dominoes: Classic Tile Game and word games.
Its work spans:
- Full-cycle mobile game design and development
- Publishing, live operations and live events
- Casual card, board and puzzle-game maintenance
- iOS, iPadOS, Android and Apple Arcade adaptation and optimization
- Free-to-play monetization, mobile advertising and marketing mix modeling
The studio operates a freemium model that combines hybrid advertising, rewarded video and optional in-app purchases, supported by proprietary data analytics and marketing mix modeling.
Growth through games
MobilityWare has broadened its portfolio through acquisitions, including Critical Hit Software in 2016, which brought Jigsaw Puzzle and ColorArt into its development and publishing portfolio. In 2019 it acquired Jump Ramp Games, creator of Lucktastic, to expand reward-based engagement and performance-marketing capabilities.
The company remains an independent, privately held corporation. Its teams support continuing development and live services across engineering, art, product management, quality assurance, marketing and live operations.
