About Milk VFX
Milk VFX is a British visual effects studio creating work for feature films and premium episodic television. Founded in London in June 2013, it combines creative development, production supervision and digital post-production, with particular strengths in creatures, environments and complex effects simulations. Its markets also include factual programming, documentary dramas, commercials and branded content.
The studio's capabilities span photoreal character and creature work, animation and rigging, expansive CG environments, digital matte painting and compositing. Its effects teams create water, fire, weather, destruction and other natural phenomena. Services extend from concept art and asset creation through on-set supervision, matchmove, look development and final compositing, alongside technical direction and pipeline consulting.
Film and television work
Milk's portfolio includes Ex Machina, The Martian, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, The Woman King and Meg 2: The Trench. Its television work includes Doctor Who, Good Omens, Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell, Sherlock: The Abominable Bride, Bodies and Dracula. The studio also contributed to the immersive experience Dinosaurs In The Wild.
The supplied October 2026 research identifies continuing work across productions including The Witcher Season 4, The Rats: A Witcher Tale, Surviving Earth, Under Salt Marsh, Young Sherlock and Wife and Dog. This portfolio reflects its work across fantasy, science fiction, contemporary drama and natural-history storytelling.
Development and ownership
Milk expanded its European production presence in 2023 with branches in France, Spain and Ireland, complementing its London base. These teams work together across the company's film and television projects.
Following a late-2024 administration and asset restructuring, the business continued through a new operating company. Phantom Digital Effects Limited acquired Milk in October 2025. Milk retained its public brand, European studio network and creative leadership within Phantom Media Group, and the research identifies it as an active operating studio in 2026.
