About Mattel Game Studios

Mattel Game Studios is Mattel’s dedicated internal video-game development and self-publishing studio, operating under Mattel Digital Studios. Formed in August 2026 through the reorganization and rebrand of the former Mattel163 joint venture, it develops and publishes games and interactive experiences built around Mattel intellectual property.

The studio combines a developer and publisher role: it manages first-party production, live operations, monetization, platform integrations, user acquisition and community-facing publishing work, while coordinating with external engineering and design partners. Its work spans free-to-play mobile games, digital card and casual titles, and creator-platform experiences for Roblox and Fortnite.

Digital play built around Mattel brands

The studio’s mobile portfolio includes UNO! Mobile, Phase 10: World Tour, Skip-Bo Mobile and UNO Wonder—digital adaptations of established Mattel tabletop properties. The predecessor organization’s titles had accumulated more than 550 million downloads and 20 million monthly active users, establishing a substantial operating base for ongoing live service and mobile publishing.

In 2026, the team released Skeletor: Until Next Time!, its first self-published first-party action title, co-developed with Amber. It also develops brand experiences for creator platforms, including Barbie DreamStyle on Roblox and Masters of the Universe: He-Man Heroes and Monster High: Paranormal Peril for Fortnite.

Capabilities

  • Full-cycle mobile game development and self-publishing
  • LiveOps, economy balancing, live events and hybrid monetization
  • Mobile analytics, platform engineering and technical QA
  • Performance marketing, creative strategy and user acquisition
  • IP adaptation, franchise extensions and creator-platform development
  • Co-development supervision and external-partner management

Mattel Game Studios operates as part of Mattel’s broader digital-games strategy, separating its first-party publishing activity from the company’s external licensed-game partnerships. The studio continues the operating history of Mattel163 following Mattel’s acquisition of the former joint venture and its subsequent consolidation under the Mattel Game Studios name.
