About Masomo

Masomo is a mobile game development studio focused on free-to-play, real-time multiplayer games for iOS and Android. Founded in İzmir in 2015, the company creates accessible competitive experiences built around fast, head-to-head play, social progression and live service operations.

The studio’s breakthrough came with Online Head Ball and its 2018 sequel, Head Ball 2. The latter combines cartoon-styled football with live multiplayer matches and progression systems, and has surpassed 100 million downloads worldwide. Masomo later applied a similar one-versus-one sports-game approach to Basketball Arena.

Development focus

Masomo’s work spans the disciplines needed to build and operate mobile games over time:

  • Real-time multiplayer and cross-platform competitive mechanics
  • Casual sports-game design, artwork and animation
  • Unity client-side engineering and mobile client testing
  • Quality assurance, LiveOps and data-informed monetization

The company’s primary development operation is in İzmir, where teams work across game design, engineering, artwork, QA and live operations. Its UK corporate entity supports international publishing, licensing and corporate operations.

Group context

In February 2019, Miniclip acquired a majority stake in Masomo. The studio was integrated into the Miniclip Group while retaining its own brand, intellectual-property portfolio and operational identity in Turkey. Masomo continues to develop and run its sports-focused mobile titles for an international audience.

Founding team

Masomo was founded in late 2015 by entrepreneur İbrahim Akman with co-founders Erdem Yurdanur, Semih Alev, Kerem Copcu, Murat Baysal, Oliver Slipper and Adam Perrin. Akman had previously developed web and mobile projects under Izmo before conceiving the real-time, head-to-head football concept that led to Online Head Ball.

Office design

The İzmir studio occupies an 800 m² space on the 42nd floor of Mistral Plaza. The office was designed by Erginoğlu & Çalışlar Mimarlık and has panoramic views across the Gulf of İzmir.
