About Mago Production

Mago Production is an independent animation and audiovisual production studio founded in 2002 and based in Barcelona, Spain. Its work spans 2D and 3D animated television series, animated features, creative documentaries and live-action films. The studio develops original intellectual property and participates in international co-productions, working across preschool, children’s, family and adult animation.

Its production capabilities extend from concept development and visual development through character design, storyboarding, animation and post-production. Animation techniques include digital hand-drawn work, cut-out animation, hybrid approaches and CGI. An in-house recording facility supports multilingual voice casting, dubbing and sound design, connecting animation production with audio post-production.

Films and series

The studio’s feature work includes The Light of Aisha, a 2025 CGI animated film directed by Shadi Adib, and the live-action drama Coraje, directed by Rubén Rojo Aura. Its television slate includes Polinopolis, a 2D comedy series produced with Godo Studio and Apapacho Films for 3Cat and RTVE, and TIN&TAN, a CGI preschool series.

Mago also participates in Belzebubs, an adult animated comedy based on JP Ahonen’s comic, alongside Pyjama Films and Movimenti Production. Its preschool development slate includes Lily & Kyle, created by Clauder Marros and co-produced with Alopra Estúdio and Apapacho Films. Other projects range from children’s musical education and mystery series to animated shorts, reflecting a production slate that serves several audiences and formats.

Production and public screenings

Alongside its screen productions, Mago organizes cultural film events and supplies equipment for outdoor screenings and live events, including inflatable cinema screens, projectors and generators. Its activities include Cinema Lliure a la Platja and Barcelona’s B-Anime Film Festival.

The company combines its Barcelona production base with regional teams in Europe, Latin America and Japan. International co-production is part of its operating model, supported by services covering production structuring and the administration of Spanish and European audiovisual incentives.
