About Los Angeles Chargers
Overview
The Los Angeles Chargers are a professional American football franchise competing in the National Football League (NFL) as a member of the American Football Conference (AFC) West division. Founded in 1959 as a charter member of the American Football League (AFL), the organization has evolved into a multifaceted sports and entertainment entity. Since July 2024, the team has operated out of "The Bolt," a state-of-the-art, 14-acre headquarters and training complex in El Segundo, California, which integrates executive offices with advanced media production facilities.
Creative & Media Operations
Beyond its core athletic operations, the Los Angeles Chargers maintain a highly regarded in-house creative and digital studio. This department functions as an internal agency, producing high-quality multimedia content that has earned the organization significant industry recognition, including multiple Shorty and Hashtag Sports awards. The studio’s capabilities span a wide range of digital and broadcast disciplines:
- Digital Content & Animation: Renowned for viral, internet-native storytelling, including annual schedule release videos that utilize 2D animation, anime-inspired aesthetics, and gaming-themed parodies.
- Production & Documentary: Development of long-form episodic series such as All In, which provides behind-the-scenes access to the team’s operations.
- Design & UI/UX: Management of the official mobile app and responsive web platforms, alongside motion graphics for gameday stadium presentations at SoFi Stadium.
- Branded Content: Collaborative multimedia campaigns integrated with major commercial partners.
Organizational Status
The franchise is majority-owned and operated by the Spanos family. While the team spent 56 seasons based in San Diego (1961–2016), it returned to the Greater Los Angeles market in 2017 and has played at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood since 2020. The organization remains committed to community engagement through the Los Angeles Chargers Impact Fund and various youth football initiatives.
