About Lola Post Production
Lola Post Production is a boutique visual effects studio based in London, founded in 2000 by visual effects supervisor Rob Harvey. Commonly branded as Lola Post, it creates visual effects for high-end television, specialist factual and documentary programmes, feature films, and commercials. Its work combines bespoke digital imagery with an artist-driven approach, spanning both effects designed to remain invisible and fully realised creatures, characters and environments.
Specialist factual production is a central part of the studio’s work. Its capabilities include natural history visual effects, scientific visualisation and historical reconstruction, alongside photorealistic creature animation. These disciplines support productions that need to depict subjects, environments or events that cannot readily be filmed, while serving the scientific and narrative requirements of the programme. The studio also works across drama, streaming series and independent film, applying its compositing and computer-generated imagery capabilities to a broader range of storytelling.
From development to final imagery
Lola’s services extend from concept art, storyboarding and pre-visualisation through technical planning and on-set visual effects supervision. Its production capabilities encompass modelling, texturing, rigging, animation, lighting and look development, supported by effects simulation, digital environments and matte painting. High-end 2D compositing brings these elements together, with creative finishing and colour grading collaboration also included in its offering.
The studio’s history includes a series of ownership changes while its public identity has continued. Milk Visual Effects acquired Lola in October 2022, expanding the resources available to the boutique operation. Following that partnership, Lola moved from its longstanding Soho premises to Clerkenwell, bringing its production base together with Milk’s operations.
Phantom Digital Effects acquired Milk and Lola in July 2025. Later that year, the wider studio network was consolidated under Phantom Media Group. Within that network, Lola continues as a distinct operating brand with creative autonomy, retaining its focus on bespoke visual effects and specialist factual storytelling.
