About Kolibri Games
Kolibri Games is a Berlin-based mobile game developer and publisher focused on free-to-play idle, incremental and tycoon simulation games for iOS and Android. Founded in 2016 as Fluffy Fairy Games, the company began in a student flat in Karlsruhe, where its four founders developed Idle Miner Tycoon in eight weeks using a lean, rapid-prototyping approach.
The studio moved to Berlin in early 2018 and rebranded as Kolibri Games on 22 October 2018. Its hummingbird identity reflects an operating philosophy centred on agility, responsiveness and iterative production. Kolibri builds games designed to evolve over time, combining continuous deployment and weekly content updates with player telemetry, behavioural analysis and A/B testing.
Mobile development and live operations
Kolibri combines game design, engineering, quality assurance and publishing for mobile titles. Its capabilities include:
- Idle, incremental, tycoon and management-simulation design
- Unity and C# game-client development
- LiveOps, content scheduling and continuous delivery
- Monetisation, virtual-economy modelling and game balancing
- Telemetry engineering, data warehousing and cohort analysis
- User acquisition, creative optimisation, App Store Optimization and retention marketing
Its portfolio includes Idle Miner Tycoon, Idle Factory Tycoon, Idle Restaurant Tycoon, Idle Firefighter Tycoon, Idle High School Tycoon, Idle Bank Tycoon, Idle Farm Tycoon and Idle Taxi Tycoon. The company reports that its games have surpassed 250 million downloads worldwide.
Company history
In February 2020, Ubisoft Entertainment SA acquired a 75% controlling interest in Kolibri Games. Kolibri continues to operate as an autonomous mobile-games development and publishing subsidiary. Later that year, it expanded its internal production capacity with a branch studio in Bucharest focused on developing original titles within the Idle Miner Tycoon universe.
Kolibri's founders stepped down from executive roles in early 2021. Guillaume Verlinden subsequently took over leadership as Managing Director, guiding releases including Idle Restaurant Tycoon, Idle Firefighter Tycoon and Idle Bank Tycoon.
