Hornet

Hornet is a multidisciplinary animation studio and creative production company founded in New York in 2001 by Michael Feder and Greg Bedard. Its work spans advertising, branded entertainment, music videos, title sequences and social advocacy films, combining animation, design and live-action production.

The studio brings together directors, animators, illustrators and designers working across 2D cel animation, 3D and CG animation, motion graphics, stop motion and mixed media. Character design and development sit alongside creative direction and visual effects, allowing projects to draw on several techniques within a single production. Its portfolio includes stylized character campaigns, minimalist motion design, animated music films and commercial storytelling.

Creative development and production

Hornet offers production from concept development through post-production. Its services include director representation and talent curation, creative development, live-action direction and shoot production, compositing and motion graphics. Its CG capabilities encompass modeling, texturing, rigging, animation, lighting and rendering.

The company works across advertising and commercial production, entertainment, technology, fashion and luxury goods, consumer products, broadcast and digital media. Its supplied client portfolio includes Apple, Google, Nike, Spotify, Coca-Cola and McDonald’s, alongside work for public advocacy organizations such as the ACLU and Paid Leave For All. These projects span product communication, brand campaigns and narrative filmmaking.

Selected work and development

Hornet produced the 22-minute animated companion film Mac Miller: Balloonerism, directed by Samuel Jerome Mason and released in 2025. Other work includes the OFFF MX Opening Titles, Kroger’s recurring “Joy of Connecting with Food” holiday campaigns, McDonald’s commercials and Google Search and product films.

New York remains the studio’s physical production base. Hornet also maintains West Coast executive production representation and works with international commercial representation partners. It has expanded its brand advisory capabilities through the launch of sister agency Perfect Stranger, which focuses on brand positioning, identity, campaigns and cultural activations.
