About HiFi 3D
HiFi 3D is a Brooklyn-based visual effects and 3D computer animation boutique founded in 2010 by directors and visual effects supervisors Jonathan Dorfman and Szymon Weglarski. The studio works across commercial, film, and episodic production, combining creative direction with CG animation, visual effects supervision, and final compositing.
Its work spans photorealistic and stylized animation, character modeling, texturing, rigging, look development, lighting, Nuke compositing, digital set extensions, matte painting, simulations, rotoscoping, and on-set VFX supervision. HiFi 3D also develops CG mascots and character-led commercial work, and directs live-action, hybrid, and fully animated projects.
Commercial and narrative work
The studio’s advertising output includes product visualization, branded character animation, and integrated visual effects for campaigns associated with Sony PlayStation, Nike, Reese’s, Google, Prada, GEICO, Toyota, Brightspeed, Ally Financial, Acura, and other brands. Its narrative work includes visual effects for Boardwalk Empire, Dead Ringers, Dumb Money, If You Were the Last, Sanctuary, The Men Who Built America, and Two Sentence Horror Stories.
HiFi 3D’s film and episodic practice includes environmental effects, invisible CG cleanup, creature work, and horror effects. For Bobcat Goldthwait’s Misfits and Monsters, the team delivered more than 120 visual-effects shots for the first season. The founders have also directed and produced independent work, including the horror-comedy project Gingerbreed.
Production approach
HiFi 3D operates as a small core studio that expands production capacity with freelance CG, FX, and 2D/3D artists when projects require it. Alongside digital production, it offers a ground-floor shoot and production space for tabletop commercials, documentary-style interviews, portraits, and product shoots.
