About Goodbye Kansas Studios
Goodbye Kansas Studios is a Stockholm-headquartered visual effects, digital animation, performance-capture and real-time production studio serving film, episodic television, games and advertising. Established in 2014 by Peter Levin and Stefan Jern, the studio consolidated several specialist Swedish teams in 2017 to create an integrated production offering spanning visual development through final delivery.
Its work combines high-end CG visual effects with game cinematics, trailers, in-game assets and character-driven animation. The studio’s capabilities include complex digital environments, creatures, crowd work, compositing and FX simulations; it also provides concept art, previs, art direction and digital matte painting.
Performance and real-time production
A central part of the studio’s production offering is performance capture and scanning. Its Stockholm facilities support optical motion capture, facial-performance tracking and high-resolution 3D face and body scanning. Those inputs can be developed into photorealistic digital humans, creatures and character assets for linear and interactive productions.
For games, Goodbye Kansas supports full cinematic pipelines from script, storyboard and previs through capture, final engine integration and post-production. It also delivers real-time content, pipeline tooling and co-development work using in-engine workflows including Unreal Engine and Unity.
Screen and game work
The studio’s reported work includes cinematics and trailers for Cyberpunk 2077, Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, God of War: Ragnarök, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Battlefield V, Battlefield 2042, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, and Star Wars: Battlefront titles. Its film and television VFX credits include Black Mirror: “Demon 79”, Carnival Row, A Man Called Otto, Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan, Vigil, Cursed, Hellboy and Birds of Paradise.
Following the 2023 bankruptcy of the former operating entity, the listed parent acquired the studio business assets, intellectual property, customer projects and production infrastructure from the bankruptcy estate. Studio activities were reconstituted under Goodbye Kansas Production AB, while the Goodbye Kansas Studios brand continues as an active international production business.
