About Glass Egg
Glass Egg is a game-art outsourcing and co-development studio producing 2D and 3D art for AAA video games. Publicly branded as Glass Egg – a Virtuos Studio, it is known for hyper-realistic vehicle work, hard-surface assets, character art, environments, concept development, and technical art support.
The studio traces its roots to Morgan Interactive, founded in 1995. Co-founders Phil Tran and Steve Reid formally established the business as Glass Egg Digital Media Ltd. in 1999, and it shipped its first major racing title, Le Mans 24 Hours, in 2002. A dedicated Concept Art division followed in 2011, with a Character Art division added in 2012.
Art production and integration
Glass Egg supports projects from early visual development through game-ready delivery. Its work includes:
- Vehicle, weapon, machinery, prop, character, and environment asset production
- Concept art, visual design, 2D assets, and UI/UX design
- In-engine implementation, technical-art quality assurance, and release support
- Outsource-management coordination using proprietary production-management software
Its production teams use tools including Maya, 3ds Max, ZBrush, Substance 3D, and Unreal Engine. The studio’s expertise in vehicle modeling and hard-surface art has made it a contributor to racing, action, and other large-scale game productions.
Selected work
Supported credits include the Forza Motorsport and Forza Horizon series; Need for Speed titles including Heat and Unbound; Apex Legends; Call of Duty; Marvel's Spider-Man 2; Demon's Souls Remake; The Crew Motorfest; Rocket League; Microsoft Flight Simulator; and PUBG: New State.
Virtuos acquired Glass Egg Digital Media Ltd. in May 2022. The studio continued to operate independently under the Glass Egg brand while becoming part of Virtuos’ network of game-development specialists. It later expanded its Vietnamese production capacity with a Da Lat branch focused on character and environment art, and had surpassed 500 members by 2025.
