About FuturLab

FuturLab is a British video game developer and publisher creating original interactive entertainment for PC, consoles, virtual reality and mobile platforms. Founded in 2003 by James Marsden, the Brighton and Hove studio began as a two-person Flash-game operation before expanding into console and PC development.

The studio is known for combining accessible, satisfying play with multi-platform development. Its early catalogue includes the fast-paced Velocity series, Surge, Coconut Dodge, Tiny Trax and Mini-Mech Mayhem. FuturLab later broadened its work with Peaky Blinders: Mastermind and the cleaning simulation PowerWash Simulator.

PowerWash Simulator and original IP

PowerWash Simulator, developed in collaboration with Square Enix Collective, established the studio’s “frictionless, soothing fun” approach to simulation games. The title has expanded through crossover content based on franchises including Tomb Raider, Final Fantasy VII, Warhammer 40,000, Back to the Future, SpongeBob SquarePants, Shrek and Star Wars.

FuturLab has also developed virtual-reality and mobile editions of the game, alongside PowerWash Simulator 2, which adds split-screen co-op and customizable player bases. Its capabilities span full-cycle development, original-IP creation, console and mobile porting, publishing and release management, and live-game content delivery.

Studio today

FuturLab operates as an active, autonomous boutique subsidiary of Miniclip Group following Miniclip’s 2024 acquisition. Led by CEO Kirsty Rigden, the studio continues to develop games across established and emerging platforms while building on its own franchises and selected third-party collaborations.
