About Electric Theatre Collective
Electric Theatre Collective is an independent visual-effects, animation and colour-grading studio founded in London in 2011. It combines high-end CG, 2D compositing, Flame finishing, motion design and colour work within a collaborative production offering for advertising, music videos, television, film and experiential projects.
The studio’s VFX capabilities span CGI asset creation, environment builds, grooming, dynamic simulations, crowd work and compositing. Its colour team provides digital-intermediate grading for both short- and long-form work, while its design and animation practice creates 2D and 3D animation, character design, motion-graphic identities and mixed-media production. Electric Theatre Collective also supports projects earlier in the process through treatment writing, look development, creative direction and pitch consultation.
Creative practice
A key part of the company’s output is the combination of photorealistic effects craft with distinctive design-led approaches. Its work includes character animation, product imagery, commercial finishing and stylised CGI, including a zoetrope-inspired approach used in music-video and advertising projects. The collective also includes dedicated internal practices for design and animation and for colour grading, enabling those disciplines to work alongside VFX and finishing teams.
Selected work
Supported credits include Coca-Cola’s Masterpiece and The Heroes; Pharrell Williams, 21 Savage and Tyler, The Creator’s Cash In Cash Out; GoDaddy’s Super Bowl 2025; IKEA’s Silence the Critics; Renault 5’s Be The First; FREENOW’s Free City; Audible’s Soaking Detective; John Lewis’s Snapper; and Oatly’s Custard by Giggs.
In 2024, Growth Capital Partners made a minority partnership investment to support international scale, talent acquisition and infrastructure investment. The company subsequently established a permanent New York presence in April 2025 as its full-service US hub, following the wind-down of its earlier Los Angeles operation.
Its recognised work has earned a D&AD Black Pencil, multiple Visual Effects Society awards, British Arrows, Ciclope and Cannes Lions honours. Electric Theatre Collective was also named Ad Age VFX Company of the Year in 2024.
