About EA Studios

EA Studios is Electronic Arts’ collective first-party game development organization, bringing together internal game teams, central technology groups, creative services, and production support. As part of Electronic Arts Inc., it supports console, PC, and mobile interactive entertainment across a portfolio of major franchises.

The organization was formally structured as EA Worldwide Studios in 2016 to consolidate EA’s creative talent, development labels, and proprietary technology teams. It later became known as EA Studios and was realigned in June 2023 into the primary operating arms EA Entertainment and EA SPORTS.

Game development and technology

EA Studios combines game production with shared technical and creative capabilities, including:

  • AAA game development for console, PC, and mobile
  • Frostbite game-engine engineering and technical support
  • 3D animation, character and environment modelling, motion capture, and technical art
  • Audio production and sound design through central creative teams
  • Cross-platform multiplayer architecture, live-service operations, quality verification, localization, and compatibility testing
  • Cloud infrastructure, telemetry, procedural-generation research, and generative-tools exploration

EA describes its studio collective as having more than 20 studios and over 6,000 creators globally. Its direct operations include central engineering, research, platform infrastructure, and production services, with teams supporting both internally developed games and the wider EA studio portfolio.

Portfolio support

Work developed, engineered, or supported across EA Studios and its technology and production divisions includes Battlefield 2042, Apex Legends, The Sims 4, Dead Space (2023), Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, Star Wars: Squadrons, Need for Speed Unbound, and EA SPORTS FC titles. The organization also supports projects in development including Skate and Marvel’s Iron Man.

EA Studios operates as an active part of Electronic Arts’ worldwide interactive-entertainment business, combining shared technology and creative infrastructure with the work of separately operated EA development studios.

More about EA Studios

Studio history and leadership

EA Studios was originally structured as EA Worldwide Studios in September 2016 under Executive Vice President Patrick Söderlund, consolidating EA’s internal development labels, creative talent, and proprietary technology teams. Laura Miele became Chief Studios Officer in 2018.

Following Electronic Arts’ June 2023 reorganization, EA Entertainment brought together first-party narrative and licensed-IP studios under Laura Miele as President, while Cam Weber led EA SPORTS and subsequently became President and Chief Studios Officer across EA’s studio portfolio.

Shared creative and research groups

The organization’s centralized capabilities include EA Create for art, animation, and sound production; Frostbite engine development; and SEED (Search for Extraordinary Experiences Division), EA’s exploratory research-and-development group. These shared teams provide technology and production support across EA’s game-development portfolio.
