Drama Studios

Drama Studios is an independent French video game developer and entertainment-software studio based in Rennes, Brittany. Its work combines game direction, art production and real-time engineering to create high-fidelity, gameplay-led interactive experiences.

The studio’s principal project is Unrecord, an upcoming single-player tactical first-person shooter built in Unreal Engine 5. The game is designed around a bodycam perspective, photorealistic environments and characters, systemic narrative gameplay, crime investigation, puzzle design and grounded tactical action.

Development focus

Drama Studios develops proprietary game intellectual property through a full-cycle production model spanning:

Unrecord first drew widespread attention after early bodycam-style proof-of-concept footage was shown in 2022. The team formally unveiled the project in April 2023 with gameplay footage whose visual realism and camera treatment prompted substantial public discussion about how it had been made. The project subsequently became one of Steam’s most-wishlisted upcoming games.

Production and growth

Drama Studios is active and in full production. The studio operates an on-site production model with hybrid flexibility and has been expanding its engineering, art and narrative design capacity. Its development work is supported by external investment, including a 2024 seed round led by The Games Fund and a later minority investment from Tencent.

The studio publishes and operates through DRAMA STUDIOS, a French simplified joint-stock company focused on electronic-game publishing. Its corporate structure supports the continuing development of Unrecord as the team advances the project toward commercial release.
