Overview

Disney Kids & Family is the dedicated content creation, commissioning, and development division within Disney Entertainment Television. It serves as the primary engine for original programming targeting preschoolers, kids, tweens, teens, and families. The division oversees the full lifecycle of content—from development and executive production to talent discovery and production management—for both linear networks, including Disney Channel and Disney Jr., and the global streaming platform Disney+.

Tracing its lineage to the 1982 incorporation of Walt Disney Entertainment, Inc., the division has evolved through several iterations, including Disney Channels Worldwide and Disney Branded Television. In June 2026, the unit rebranded to Disney Kids & Family to better reflect its focus on audience-centric programming across streaming and linear ecosystems. The division maintains its primary operational headquarters in Burbank, California, with additional commissioning hubs supporting international co-productions and global distribution strategies.
