About Cinema Máquina

Cinema Máquina is an independent Mexican post-production studio providing picture finishing and sound services for feature films, premium episodic television and documentaries. Founded in 2007, it serves productions across Latin America and international markets from Mexico City. Its work brings together editorial, color, visual effects, audio and final delivery within an integrated post-production workflow.

The studio concentrates on long-form content for theatrical release, streaming platforms and television networks. It explicitly excludes commercial advertising from its business, focusing its infrastructure and technical resources on films, series and other extended productions. Its markets also include animated features and documentary series, alongside live-action narrative projects.

Picture and sound finishing

Picture services span offline editorial support, online conforming, digital intermediate finishing and 4K HDR and SDR color grading. The studio is certified for Dolby Vision mastering and provides visual effects, compositing, cleanup and invisible digital effects. These capabilities support the transition from edited material to a finished picture prepared for its intended exhibition format.

Sound post-production encompasses sound design, dialogue replacement, Foley and immersive mixing. Dedicated Dolby Atmos mixing stages and ADR suites support audio production, while 4K DCI projection facilities allow critical picture and sound screenings. Directors and other creative collaborators can review work through both theatrical screening and remote HDR review workflows.

From production data to delivery

Cinema Máquina also handles on-set data management and dailies, including checksum verification, transcoding and color metadata synchronization. These services connect production materials with subsequent editorial and finishing stages.

Final delivery services include IMF and DCP mastering, ProRes outputs, and packages for streaming and broadcast distribution. Automated and operator-led quality control covers technical image checks, audio loudness verification and artifact detection. The studio prepares deliverables to specifications used by Netflix, Amazon MGM Studios, Warner Bros. Discovery / Max and Disney, supporting projects that require multiple distribution formats and coordinated picture and sound finishing.

A graduate of UNAM's Centro Universitario de Estudios Cinematográficos, he described learning post-production to finish his own student short film before taking on work for others. The operation began in an apartment.

Production tools and infrastructure

The studio describes a software-agnostic editorial approach, supporting Avid Media Composer, Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve and Apple Final Cut Pro. Its pipeline also uses Foundry Nuke for visual effects and MTILab Cortex for dailies and picture finishing.

Centralized storage totals five petabytes, with symmetric connectivity exceeding 10 Gbps supplied by Cirion Technologies. Signiant Media Shuttle, Sohonet FileRunner and IBM Aspera support global file exchange; Autodesk Flow Capture enables remote HDR reviews with directors, cinematographers and showrunners.
