About CGEV
CGEV is a French visual effects studio working across feature films, television and streaming productions. Founded in 2012 by former artists and supervisors from Duran Duboi, it was established as an independent company. Its work spans French domestic cinema, international co-productions and episodic projects, with production teams based in Paris and Angoulême.
The studio supports productions from early planning through digital post-production. Its services begin with script breakdowns, concept design, bidding and pre-production preparation, and extend to on-set supervision and the creation of finished visual effects. This scope combines practical involvement during filming with the subsequent construction, integration and refinement of digital imagery.
Compositing and digital environments
High-end 2D compositing is CGEV’s principal discipline, with Nuke central to that work. Its broader capabilities include photorealistic matte painting, environment extensions, green- and blue-screen extraction, day-for-night transformations, cosmetic retouching and digital de-aging. These services support both extensive effects sequences and more discreet alterations to photographed material.
The studio also develops 3D assets, characters, creatures and environments, covering modeling, animation, lighting and shading. Its effects work includes simulations of fluids, particles, fire, water, smoke, explosions and destruction. Houdini, Maya and Unreal Engine complement its compositing workflows, while title sequences and end credits form another part of its production offering.
Film and episodic work
CGEV’s portfolio includes The Substance, L’Amour ouf, Monsieur Aznavour, Astérix & Obélix : L’Empire du Milieu and Les Trois Mousquetaires. Its television and streaming credits include Lupin, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, Cat’s Eyes and Baron Noir.
The studio serves theatrical releases, premium television and streaming platforms. Its reported production history encompasses more than 700 film and television projects, reflecting work across a broad range of production scales and formats.
