About BulletFarm
BulletFarm is a remote-first AAA game development studio headquartered in Los Angeles. It develops original first-person action-adventure and cooperative multiplayer experiences for the interactive-entertainment market, with a focus on console and PC games.
Established around an original-IP mandate, the studio combines full-lifecycle real-time engineering and technical art with systemic gameplay, narrative world-building, and co-op design. Its work is built in Unreal Engine 5, including use of technologies such as Lumen and MegaLights.
Current work
BulletFarm is in active production on an unannounced AAA first-person cooperative title. The project is described as a multiplayer action game in an original universe, centered on systemic gameplay and PvE co-op. The studio has characterized the work as a departure from conventional military shooters, with environmental storytelling and psychological narrative among its creative interests.
Operating model
The studio works remotely across the United States and Canada while maintaining Los Angeles as its headquarters and operational hub. It favors right-sized development teams rather than large-scale, thousand-person production structures.
BulletFarm was publicly unveiled by NetEase Games in February 2024 as a first-party AAA development studio. Following NetEase's divestment of Western development assets in early 2026, BulletFarm transitioned to backing and co-ownership from GreaterThan Group while retaining its team, identity, intellectual-property ownership, and creative autonomy.
More about BulletFarm
Founding leadership
BulletFarm was founded by David Vonderhaar, with Chris Cowell as Creative Director and Paul Watkins as Technical Director. Vonderhaar previously spent nearly two decades at Treyarch and served as Studio Design Director on the Black Ops series.
Studio principles
The company describes its production culture through three pillars:
- Ownership: developers are empowered as artisans in their disciplines.
- Integrity: an honest, transparent culture with mutual accountability.
- Sustainability: right-sized teams working at a human pace rather than through corporate bloat.
GreaterThan Group co-owns and funds the studio alongside its founding creative leadership, providing support while preserving BulletFarm's operational continuity and creative independence.
