About Bomper Studio
Bomper Studio is an independent creative production studio based in Caerphilly, South Wales. It creates CGI, animation and visual effects for advertising, branding, broadcast television, music videos and games. Founded in early 2014 by Emlyn Davies and Ceri Davies, the studio grew from Emlyn’s background in freelance 3D artistry into a production team working across a range of visual styles and formats.
Its work spans hand-crafted 2D and 3D character animation, live-action visual effects, hyperreal product imagery and game cinematics. Artists, illustrators, animators, art directors and producers contribute to projects that combine character-led storytelling with technical production. The studio describes curiosity, craft and experimentation across media as central to its creative approach.
From concept to delivery
Bomper’s services cover creative development through final production. Early work includes creative direction, concept art, character design, scripts and storyboards. Production capabilities encompass illustration, motion graphics, character and environmental animation, product visualisation and still imagery. The studio also offers photogrammetry scanning, real-time CGI and augmented and virtual reality development.
Post-production services include integrating animation and visual effects with live-action footage, high-end retouching and colour management, with deliverables prepared for print and broadcast. This range supports both stylised animation and more realistic commercial imagery across consumer goods, entertainment, retail and science and healthcare communications.
Selected work
Music-video projects include Foo Fighters’ Chasing Birds and No Son of Mine, alongside Tyler Childers’ Country Squire. Its game-related work includes animated teasers and world-building films for EverMerge, including Before the Fog.
Commercial projects span campaigns and product imagery for LEGO x Scheels, Bose, Levi’s, Volvo, Tesco, Glenfiddich and Twinings. Broadcast work includes graphic design and animated sequences for Richard Osman’s House of Games and visual graphics for Ready Steady Cook. Alongside commissioned productions, Bomper develops original animated shorts, including Coffee Run and Laundry Day.

Production tools
The reported software suite includes Cinema 4D, Redshift, ZBrush, Houdini, Substance and Maya, with ftrack Studio used for media review and production tracking.
Working practices and development
In 2022, following a trial, Bomper permanently introduced a four-day working week for permanent staff, with full compensation and without compressing working hours.
The self-funded studio reinvests revenue in internal research and development and creative shorts through its Bomper Academy initiative. Its operating model combines a permanent core team with additional artists, animators and producers during peak production periods.

Bomper is a member of Animation UK and receives promotional backing from Creative Wales.
