About Blue Spirit

Blue Spirit is a French and Canadian animation studio and production house founded in Paris in 2004. It develops and produces animated television series and feature films, combining original-content production with executive production and animation services for international partners.

Its integrated production capabilities span visual development, concept art, storyboarding, layout, character modelling, texturing, shading, animation, lighting, rendering and compositing. The studio works across 2D, 3D and hybrid workflows, with technical post-production services that include colour grading, image mastering, stereoscopic adaptation and finishing.

A distinctive part of Blue Spirit’s work is its non-photorealistic rendering pipeline, which translates 3D computer animation into painterly 2D-style imagery. The company’s production infrastructure supports television, streaming and feature-film work for children, family, young-adult and adult audiences.

Blue Spirit has contributed animation, co-production and technical services to projects including Blue Eye Samurai, My Life as a Zucchini, The Mysterious Cities of Gold, What If...?, Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai, Gigantosaurus, Ernest & Célestine, Alice & Lewis, Arthur and the Children of the Round Table, The Prince’s Voyage, The Painting, Runes and Slocum et moi.

The studio is part of Studio TF1, formerly Newen Studios, following Newen’s acquisition of Blue Spirit in 2017. Its organisation brings together French operating entities for management, production and studio facilities with a Canadian operating subsidiary, enabling cross-border co-productions and animation services.
