Big Potato Games is an independent British tabletop game design studio and publisher headquartered in Clerkenwell, London. Founded in 2014 by Dean Tempest, Ben Drummond, and Tristan Hyatt-Williams, the studio focuses on creating accessible, fast-paced party and family games designed to encourage immediate, inclusive play. Guided by the philosophy that games should be easy to learn and impossible to put down, the company has grown from a small Shoreditch workshop into a global brand with products sold in over 50 countries.

Innovation and Sustainability

Beyond traditional tabletop design, Big Potato integrates digital elements into its portfolio through the Big Potato TV browser platform and various companion apps. The studio is recognized for its progressive operational model, which includes a permanent four-day work week and an Employee Ownership Trust (EOT) structure that grants staff a stake in the company’s success. As a Certified B Corporation, Big Potato prioritizes environmental responsibility, utilizing sustainable manufacturing practices such as plastic-free packaging and its proprietary MOOP technology, which repurposes ocean-bound plastics for game components.

Growth and Leadership

In 2025, the studio secured a £16.2 million minority investment from Mobeus Equity Partners to fuel international expansion and product development. While maintaining its independent spirit, the company has successfully collaborated with major entertainment brands, including Disney and Blockbuster, to produce licensed titles. Today, the studio continues to operate as a management- and employee-owned entity, maintaining a creative hub in London while supporting a distributed team across the United States and Germany.
