About Balor Games
About Balor Games
Balor Games is an independent video game publisher and catalog steward operating under the corporate identity of Good Games Group, Inc. Established in 2024 by former Humble Games leadership Alan Patmore and Mark Nash, the company was formed to preserve developer relationships and maintain a "developer-first" publishing philosophy following the restructuring of their previous division. Backed by institutional investment from MEP Capital, Balor Games officially launched its public-facing brand on March 4, 2026.
Publishing Philosophy
Balor Games operates as a cultural curator for the "Triple-I" (ambitious independent) market. The studio distinguishes itself through a model that prioritizes creative continuity and long-term IP stewardship:
- Developer Autonomy: Partner studios retain 100% of their intellectual property rights and maintain full creative control over their projects.
- Flexible Financing: The company utilizes capital from MEP Capital to offer diverse funding structures, including project advances and lump-sum catalog rights acquisitions, providing developers with liquidity to fund future titles.
- Lifecycle Stewardship: Beyond initial launch support, Balor Games manages long-term live-ops, community engagement, and platform updates for its catalog, ensuring sustained lifecycle monetization and player retention.
Strategic Operations
Headquartered in Los Angeles, California, Balor Games maintains a lean internal team supported by a network of external development vendors. The company manages a portfolio of over 60 titles across PC, console, and mobile platforms. In June 2026, the studio significantly expanded its operations by entering a multi-title partnership with IllFonic, Inc., assuming responsibility for the global publishing and lifecycle management of IllFonic’s multiplayer catalog, including titles such as Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed and Predator: Hunting Grounds.
Balor Games continues to actively sign and support independent projects, ranging from tactical shooters like SCP: 5K to narrative-driven adventures and platformers, while maintaining a commitment to the long-term health of its acquired back-catalog titles.
