About Audi

Overview

AUDI AG is a premier German automotive manufacturer and a core brand of the Volkswagen Group. Headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, the company is globally recognized for its commitment to engineering excellence under the banner of Vorsprung durch Technik. While primarily an automotive original equipment manufacturer (OEM), Audi maintains sophisticated in-house creative and technical departments, including a dedicated Digital Design Experience and CGI Visualization studio. This internal unit integrates advanced digital workflows with automotive design to produce high-end photorealistic imagery, cinematic animations, and real-time interactive experiences for global vehicle reveals and marketing.

Creative & Technical Capabilities

Embedded within the company's Technical Development and Design Philosophy organizations, the studio leverages industry-standard pipelines—including Autodesk Alias, Maya, and Blender—to bridge the gap between engineering CAD data and consumer-facing media. Key capabilities include:

  • Digital Visualization: Photorealistic CG rendering, vehicle rigging, and motion animation for global product launches.
  • Interactive Design: Development of in-car UI/UX prototypes and real-time digital twin environments.
  • Virtual Production: Integration of hybrid live-action and CGI assets for broadcast and digital touchpoints.
  • Design Support: High-end visualization for concept cars and internal design review processes.

Corporate Structure & Heritage

Tracing its roots to the early 20th century, the modern Audi brand was solidified through the 1932 formation of Auto Union and the subsequent 1969 merger with NSU Motorenwerke. Today, as a wholly owned subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, Audi oversees the 'Brand Group Progressive,' which includes Bentley, Lamborghini, and Ducati. The company operates a vast international network of production facilities and innovation hubs, such as the incampus technology park in Ingolstadt, which focuses on digital mobility, software architecture, and vehicle safety. With a workforce exceeding 88,000, Audi continues to lead in the development of electric mobility, autonomous driving technologies, and advanced automotive digital experiences.
