About Alawar
Alawar is an independent video-game developer and publisher focused on midcore and casual games for PC, consoles and mobile platforms. Founded in Novosibirsk in 1999, the company grew from early shareware releases—including Puzzle Rally, Bubble Bobble Nostalgie and the Magic Ball series—into a global developer-publisher with a catalogue spanning casual franchises, simulation, survival and roguelite experiences.
The company develops games in-house and publishes projects from external development partners. Its publishing support covers project financing, business development, milestone review, quality assurance, localization, marketing, PR and community management. Alawar also handles multi-platform adaptation and distribution across PC storefronts, PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, iOS and Android.
Portfolio and publishing focus
Alawar’s early casual catalogue includes the Farm Frenzy franchise and The Treasures of Montezuma series. Since shifting its strategic focus toward midcore and indie games in 2014, it has released and published titles including:
- The Beholder series, including Beholder: Conductor
- The Wall World series, Necrosmith and Necrosmith 2
- Karate Survivor, Security 51, The Last Gas Station and Haunted Lands
- Do Not Feed the Monkeys, Distrust: Polar Survival, They Always Run, I Am Not a Monster: First Contact and Song of Farca
- Technotopia, Kingsgrave and Looking for Aliens
Current direction
Alawar operates as a hybrid developer-publisher, concentrating on gameplay-driven simulation, survival and roguelite projects for international audiences. Its proprietary casual-game storefronts were retired in 2023, with distribution consolidated on global digital platforms and through console and mobile channels. The company remains active in development and publishing, with recent releases and announcements including Beholder: Conductor, Security 51, The Last Gas Station, Haunted Lands and Wall World Strategy.
