About Afterverse
Afterverse is a Brazilian game developer focused on social sandbox experiences and virtual worlds for younger audiences and digital-native communities. Founded in 2019 within PlayKids and Grupo Movile, the company became publicly branded as Afterverse in December 2020, incorporated as Afterverse Games Ltda. in 2021, and became independent from Grupo Movile in 2024.
Its flagship title, PK XD: Fun, friends & games, is an open-world multiplayer sandbox where players socialize, customize avatars, build spaces, and explore a shared virtual environment. The game has surpassed one billion Google Play downloads. Afterverse also develops Crafty Lands: Build & Craft, PKXD Runner, and XD RP.
Game development and live operations
The studio’s work combines mobile game design, software engineering, live operations, community management, and ongoing content updates. Its core capabilities include:
- Social sandbox and virtual-world development
- Avatar, roleplay, and world-building mechanics
- User-generated-content ecosystems
- Mobile LiveOps and content updates
- Online safety, moderation, and compliance operations
Afterverse places particular emphasis on child-oriented digital experiences, with its products and operations described as aligned with COPPA, Brazil’s LGPD, and ECA Digital frameworks.
Operating model
Afterverse operates a remote-first model across Brazil, supported by a physical collaboration hub in Campinas. Opened in 2022, the space was designed for creative sprints, streaming, video recording, team gatherings, and community events rather than conventional daily desk work.
The company serves the mobile gaming and interactive-entertainment market across iOS, Android, and PC, with a focus on social play, virtual worlds, and community-driven experiences. Its work also includes global influencer and creator-network management in support of its games and player communities.
