About Aeria Games
Aeria Games was an online PC and mobile game publisher best known for bringing free-to-play multiplayer titles to Western markets. Founded in Santa Clara, California in 2006, it built a catalogue spanning PC MMORPGs, browser games, online shooters and mobile publishing, with distribution across North America, Europe and Latin America.
The company’s publishing work encompassed game localization, live operations, community management, player support and billing services. Its portfolio included titles such as Aura Kingdom, Grand Fantasia, Shaiya, Eden Eternal, WolfTeam, Alliance of Valiant Arms, Echo of Soul, Twin Saga, Scarlet Blade and Twelve Sky 2.
European publishing operations
Aeria Games established a European operation in Berlin under Aeria Games Europe GmbH, later Aeria Games GmbH. In 2014, ProSiebenSat.1 acquired the European and PC publishing business; the California corporate entity subsequently became PlayNext, Inc. while the Aeria Games brand continued in Berlin.
Gamigo AG agreed to acquire Aeria Games GmbH from ProSiebenSat.1 in 2016, completing the transaction that July. Over the following years, Aeria’s game infrastructure and publishing activity were progressively integrated with Gamigo’s Glyph platform.
Closure and legacy
Aeria Games GmbH was merged into gamigo Publishing GmbH on August 17, 2022, ending its independent corporate registration. Gamigo then retired the Aeria Games portal, account system and backend infrastructure on February 28, 2023. Remaining publishing rights were transferred or returned to other publishers and developers, including X-Legend Entertainment for Aura Kingdom and Grand Fantasia, and Fawkes Games for Shaiya and Last Chaos.
Aeria Games is therefore a historical, merged publisher rather than an active studio. Its record remains distinct from Gamigo Group, the former parent company that continued operating separately.
