Adam's Animation Academy

Adam's Animation Academy is a British online 2D animation training institution and technical production consultancy founded by animator and technical director Adam Oliver. Based in North West England, it develops practical learning and production-support services for animators, independent creators, studios, and education providers.

Its project-based teaching is designed around commercial animation workflows. Courses cover Toon Boom Harmony animation, rigging and scene building; Moho Pro cut-out animation and rigging; classical hand-drawn animation; clean-up; and inbetweening. The academy also provides one-to-one critique, portfolio review, and tailored milestones through its 10-week The Animator's Way mentorship programme.

Training built around production practice

The academy’s courses aim to address technical-skills gaps by replicating real-world 2D production pipelines. Alongside Oliver’s instruction, programmes are supported by industry guest practitioners. It also delivers bespoke workshops and masterclasses for animation studios and higher-education institutions, and has partnered on training activity supported by organisations including ScreenSkills and Ireland’s Creative Skillnet.

Technical consulting and rigging

Beyond education, Adam's Animation Academy offers technical direction and consulting for broadcast and streaming animation. Its services include onboarding frameworks, custom rigging blueprints, technical setups, production planning, and workflow troubleshooting. The academy has contributed technical pipeline consulting, training, and troubleshooting to JoJo and Gran Gran, and developed an onboarding training framework for My Brother the Minotaur.

Oliver founded the business after becoming the UK’s first certified Toon Boom Harmony expert in 2017. Before establishing the academy, he held senior animation and technical roles including Technical Director and Lead Rigger at Mackinnon & Saunders, Animation Supervisor at Pipangai Studio, and Lead Animator at CHF Entertainment.
