About Acamar Films
Acamar Films is an independent creative studio and intellectual-property management company focused on premium preschool entertainment. Headquartered in Camden, London, it was established in 2005 by producer Mikael Shields following the optioning of Ted Dewan’s Bing books. The company describes its mission as to “move and delight” audiences worldwide.
At the centre of its work is Bing, the animated preschool series about the noisy, joyful and sometimes messy realities of early childhood. Developed as short “micro-dramas” grounded in young children’s developmental experiences and their caregivers, the property has become an international television, streaming and consumer-products franchise.
Production and brand management
Acamar develops, produces and manages Bing across multiple formats and commercial channels. Its work includes:
- Preschool animation production, character development and storytelling
- Scriptwriting, voice casting and story adaptation
- International content sales, broadcasting rights and streaming distribution
- Licensing, retail promotions and consumer-products partner management
- Digital products, including the Bing: Watch, Play, Learn app
- Theatrical cinema packages, live stage shows and experiential productions
The studio works with specialist production partners on animation while directing the creative, editorial, distribution and commercial management of the franchise. Its television work has been recognised with an International Emmy Award and a Writer’s Guild of Great Britain Award, alongside multiple BAFTA nominations.
Beyond the screen
Acamar extends Bing beyond broadcast through cinema releases, live productions and publishing, toy and apparel licensing. Projects include Bing at the Cinema, Bing’s Animal Stories, Bing’s Christmas and Other Stories, Bing and His Friends at the Cinema, and the live production Bing’s Birthday.
The company operates as an active, privately held business, combining creative development with international IP management across television, streaming, digital platforms, live entertainment and consumer products.
