About Absolute Post

Absolute Post was a London-founded visual effects and creative post-production studio that operated from 2004 until its commercial closure in May 2026. The company built an integrated offering for advertising, film, high-end television and music-video work, combining visual effects with picture, sound and creative finishing.

Its production capabilities included VFX supervision, Flame and Nuke compositing, CG and 3D animation, colour grading, digital intermediate work, offline and online editorial, and audio post-production. The studio also offered sound design, voiceover and mixing, motion design, creative direction, concept development, and integrated AI and digital-solution workflows.

Screen and campaign work

Across nearly two decades, Absolute Post worked with agencies, production companies and brands on commercial campaigns for Nike, Adidas, Apple, Samsung, Lexus, Lidl and The AA. Its screen credits include visual-effects work on Maniac, American Animals and Outlander, alongside music-video projects including Coldplay’s Daddy and Klaxons’ Twin Flames.

The company worked closely with Blind Pig, its sister animation and motion-design studio, on design, 2D and 3D animation, and creative-direction work. Following its acquisition by ENVY Group in November 2022, Absolute Post retained its distinct brand and leadership while operating within the wider post-production group.

Closure

Amid reduced commercial budgets, rising operating costs and declining project volume across the sector, ENVY and founder David Smith announced that Absolute Post would cease operations on May 14, 2026. The closure resulted in the redundancy of just over 70 staff, and Absolute Post Limited subsequently entered administration in May 2026.

More about Absolute Post

Leadership and group-era operations

David Smith founded Absolute Post and served as its CEO. During the ENVY ownership period, Chris Batten was appointed managing director, while Annabel Bennett joined as executive producer to support integrated commercial and episodic workflows.

Historic footprint

Industry directories and technical case studies previously noted a New York presence or representation for Absolute Post. The research identifies this as an extension of the UK studio rather than an independent operating company; it was consolidated before the UK entity entered administration.
