About Abrakam

Abrakam is an independent AA game developer founded in Liège, Belgium, in 2013. The studio creates proprietary strategy games, digital collectible card games, deck-builders and roguelikes, while also providing co-development, expansion and porting support for publishing partners.

Its original title Faeria combined collectible-card deck-building with a dynamic hex-board battlefield and launched in 2017. Abrakam later collaborated with Magic: The Gathering creator Richard Garfield on Roguebook, a deck-building roguelike published by Nacon in 2021.

Strategy systems and production capabilities

Abrakam’s work centres on turn-based strategy, tactical card-game mechanics, procedural roguelike systems, narrative branching and grand-strategy expansion design. Its services span original IP development, programming, art, production, technical prototyping, live-content support, balancing, bug fixing, audio and animation production.

The studio also supports multi-platform releases across PC, consoles and mobile devices. Its art capabilities include 2D and 3D concept work, stylized character and environment modelling, hard-surface assets and visual effects.

Proprietary development technology

Abrakam develops with two internal frameworks designed for its strategic games:

  • Excalibur, a modular rules and logic engine for turn-based gameplay, supporting rapid prototyping and balance iteration.
  • Durandal, a multi-platform pipeline for deployment, platform-specific requirements, controller schemas and cloud saves across PC and console platforms.

Co-development work

Alongside its own games, Abrakam has worked with Paradox Interactive on the Stellaris franchise. Its credited expansion work includes Stellaris: Astral Planes (2023), Stellaris: Grand Archive (2024) and Stellaris: Shadows of the Shroud (2025), following earlier collaboration on mobile strategy prototypes including Lost Empire: Relics and Stellaris: Galaxy Command.
