5th Planet Games A/S is a publicly traded Copenhagen-based entertainment financier, video-game publisher and distributor. Commercially operating as 5th Planet Games, it supports titles across console, PC and mobile while managing a legacy catalogue rooted in its earlier mobile-development history.

The business began in Copenhagen in 2011 as Hugo Games A/S, creating mobile games and digital casino titles connected with the Hugo the Troll franchise. In 2018, Hugo Games acquired California developer 5th Planet Games, Inc. and subsequently adopted the 5th Planet Games A/S name. Following a restructuring that closed its external development operations, the company transitioned from in-house production to a lean model focused on financing, publishing and distribution.

Publishing, financing and distribution

Group development

Skybound Game Studios, Inc. became the controlling majority owner in 2023 following Skybound Entertainment’s strategic investment. Through this relationship, 5th Planet Games co-finances and co-publishes work connected with Skybound intellectual property, including The Walking Dead and Invincible. The group also expanded into screen entertainment in 2023 through a joint controlling investment in Icelandic film and television producer Sagafilm ehf.

In March 2025, 5th Planet Games A/S completed an internal merger absorbing its wholly owned subsidiary 5th Planet Games Development ApS, further simplifying the group structure.
