About 3rd World Studios

3rd World Studios is a Pakistani animation and visual-effects company established in 2016 to produce animated feature films. The independent studio combines feature development with commercial animation, episodic content and VFX work for films, series and advertising.

Its creative focus is high-end computer-generated storytelling, with capabilities spanning character and creature animation, character modelling and rigging, stereoscopic 3D production, and full-body, hand and facial motion-capture integration. The studio also develops and consults on real-time rendering workflows and produces commercials and broadcast TVCs.

Real-time production

The company is known for using Epic Games’ Unreal Engine in feature animation. It describes itself as the first studio in the world to use a game engine to produce an animated feature film, replacing conventional multi-pass rendering and compositing cycles with a real-time workflow using lighting, material shaders and particle systems. Its production approach combines real-time animation with motion-capture technologies and virtual-performance tools.

Feature and commercial work

3rd World Studios’ debut feature, Allahyar and the Legend of Markhor (2018), was produced entirely in Unreal Engine. The studio later premiered Allahyar and the 100 Flowers of God (2023), billed as Pakistan’s first stereoscopic 3D animated feature film. Its additional work includes the animated COVID-19 public-service campaign created for Pakistan’s Ministry of National Health Services, the K&N’s Fun Nuggets brand series The Adventures of D’Land, and the real-time cinematic short Reclamation.

Alongside original feature IP, the studio offers end-to-end animation and VFX production for commercials, series and films. Its work serves feature-film and theatrical entertainment, television and streaming, commercial brand content, and public-service or edutainment campaigns.
