About 2d3D Animations

2d3D Animations is an independent French animation production studio working across 2D and 3D projects for feature films, television series, shorts, documentaries and multimedia. Founded in 1999, it combines digital cut-out animation with CGI production, providing both creative production and executive-production services for European and international partners.

The studio’s work spans the development and production of animated projects as well as delegated and minority co-production. Its capabilities include concept art, background design and colour styling; 2D and 3D layout; character modelling, rigging and texturing; lighting, compositing and visual effects. Its production pipeline uses Toon Boom Harmony for 2D work and Autodesk Maya for 3D animation.

Production work

2d3D Animations has contributed animation, modelling, layout and co-production services to theatrical and television productions. Selected feature-film credits include The Boy Who Wanted to Be a Bear, The Triplets of Belleville, Asterix and the Vikings, Pinocchio, Émilie Jolie, Friends Forever, Iqbal, a Tale of a Fearless Child and Minuscule: Valley of the Lost Ants. The latter won the César Award for Best Animated Film in 2015.

Its television work includes Sadie Sparks, for which it provided lead modelling and animation alongside Cyber Group Studios for Disney Channel, as well as Moi, Elvis, Extreme Football, Le Petit Nicolas, Le Ranch, Louie, My Dad the Rock Star and Geronimo Stilton.

Creative focus

After initially building its activity as an executive service provider and co-production partner, the company expanded into initiating projects and acting as a delegated producer. Its editorial approach emphasises humanistic, educational and environmental themes. Recent work includes the 2021 short Histoire de s'mélanger, directed by Florent Mounier, while feature projects including Adam and the Magic Cloud, Republic of Cats and Trip to Teulada have been in development.

The company remains an active simplified joint-stock company, producing animation from Angoulême within the region’s audiovisual ecosystem.
