About 23lunes
23lunes is a Spanish 3D animation and visual-effects studio led by creative directors Jordi García and Borja “Bor” Arroyo. Founded in 2004 as an independent boutique initiative, the company creates full-CG advertising, high-fidelity game cinematics, stylised character work and visual-effects production for entertainment and brand clients.
The studio works across the production process, from creative direction, storytelling, pre-visualisation and storyboarding through character modelling, sculpting, rigging, shading, lighting, rendering, compositing and colour grading. Its specialist capabilities include character animation and development, game trailers and cinematics, grooming, hair and cloth simulation, and fluid, particle and destruction effects.
Screen, Games and Advertising
Its credits include the Mind Game sequence for Ender’s Game, created in partnership with Digital Domain; cinematic work for Ubisoft’s Might & Magic: Elemental Guardians and Hungry Dragon; Supercell’s Clash of Clans; and advertising work for Danone Actimel, Cuétara, Airwick, Audi, Heineken and Ceres Brewery. The studio also collaborated with Kandor Graphics on the “Justin: Tapestry” sequence for Justin and the Knights of Valour.
23lunes’ history includes a 2013 corporate period under the Post23 name before its creative operations were consolidated under 23lunes. The company has operated from its Badalona production headquarters after relocating from its long-standing central Barcelona workspace.
Production Approach
The studio combines animation and VFX craft with pipeline development and workflow optimisation. Its production environment uses tools including Autodesk Maya, ZBrush, SideFX Houdini, Foundry Nuke, Arnold and ftrack, supporting work from concept through final delivery. Alongside client production, 23lunes develops original work, including Por & Johnny: Sleeping Beauty – A Paranormal Detective Adventure.
