St. Joseph College of Communication

Located in Changanassery, Kerala, St. Joseph College of Communication (SJCC) is the first university-affiliated media college in South India. Established in 2004 and affiliated with Mahatma Gandhi University, the college operates from its 5.30-acre "Media Village" campus. The institution's pedagogy, influenced by its heritage of leadership from the Film and Television Institute of India, prioritizes experiential learning with a curriculum structure requiring 65% practical application.

Academic Framework

SJCC has transitioned to four-year BA (Hons) degree pathways in alignment with the National Education Policy 2020. Its educational approach utilizes a "flipped classroom" model where students engage with theoretical content via internal platforms like MVTV before transitioning to intensive laboratory sessions. The college maintains distinct facilities designed as a professional production ecosystem, including specialized stop-motion labs, an AI & XR Nexus studio equipped for virtual production, and immersive 7.1 sound cinemas for final output review.

Industry Integration

Practical portfolio development is supported by "Media Park," an internal incubation venture that facilitates student participation in live client briefs. This "Earn While You Learn" model is complemented by student-led campus clubs, such as the MVTV Club and Animation Club, which emphasize peer-to-peer technical mastery and professional content delivery.
