Sejong University

Sejong University is a private research institution in Seoul, South Korea, that hosts the Department of Comics and Animation Technology within its College of AI Convergence. The department operates with two primary tracks. The Comics specialization focuses on storytelling, character business, and webtoon production. The Animation track covers a broader spectrum, including 2D and 3D animation, concept design, visual effects, and extended reality (XR). The curriculum follows a structured progression:

• Intermediate: Pre-visualization, digital storytelling, and software introduction.

Students participate in intensive practical initiatives, such as the "Cartoon Creation Hell Camp," an immersive residency modeled after professional webtoon serialization demands. Furthermore, the on-campus SECAN Studio serves as an industry-academic incubator where undergraduates collaborate on professional webtoon production for commercial platforms.

Virtual Production Facilities

The university hosts "Team Studios Sejong," a large-scale AI-powered virtual media studio. The facility supports in-camera visual effects and real-time virtual production using high-resolution LED walls and floor stages. The infrastructure integrates real-time camera tracking and rendering, allowing students to utilize professional workflows powered by Unreal Engine.
